Services of private guide are about 30 USD per hour. Please write me to find out about the details because number of hours booked and the group size also influences the price. Entrance tickets are paid separately, usually right on the place.
Private car with a driver is from 15 USD per hour (price also depends on the quality of the car).
In the Internet you will find cheaper offers and promises like “best price guaranteed”. But be careful. If the price is too low, it means that the company does not pay the staff and hires students who don’t mind training for free. Believe me, real professionals never work for the lowest salary. It takes years to learn history, art and languages, moreover, this process NEVER stops for professionals, besides that, guide has to be interesting person himself, the person who is interesting to talk to! If the guide has all these qualities, he will never offer incredibly cheap price. If you are seeking for real memories about your trip to Russia, unexpexted impressions and personal attitude, you can get this all only with a creative educated person for whom spending time with you and sharing experience with you is not just daily routine but creativity. As I have been in tourist business for more than ten years and know personally most St Petersburg guides, I can say that among us you can find real sparks as well as grey mass. It is then only up to you what you choose! I´ll just give you a little tip: guides who work in a big company, especially if they are badly paid are much less interested in the result and quality than those who work independently.
You can have a question of course: how can you be sure about me and my services if I am just a private guide, not a big tour company? First of all, you can write me and check yourself that I am real, you can then talk with me by Skype, call me or write to my ex-clients (their e-mails you can see on the page References). With me you can pay for the services AFTER you like them, in the end of the day spent with me, so you and your money is fully protected!
I quite often get a question “Is it possible to get around in St Petersburg without a car?” I can say yes, it is possible but it is not easy. Our city is huge and distances between sights are also quite big. For example, Peterhof or Pavlovsk are about 35 km from the city and subway does not go this far. But without a car you can walk in the downtown and have “up-close” experience. So everything is up to you!
